Veteran's Day

If there was a photo or article about the Army's rebuilding of the area surrounding Verdun, France in 1959-60, there was a chance that my dad or someone he knew had something to do with it.

One of the many articles for which he provided the photography -
Among the few large pictures is one of my personal favorites - The intensity captured in the small part of the face that can be seen is remarkable to me.

My husband and I would like to go and visit Verdun and its surroundings. It is said that ground , 90 years later, is always undulating because of the bombardments during WWI. Verdun's part of our 'recent' History. We all have great-grandparents who participated.

I was born in Verdun - in the Field Hospital in fact. It's definitely a part of MY recent past!
One day I hope to go there too.
